Hi all
I just had to come in and share my sense of modest excitement and hope after spending many hours last night at the FCC hearing in Monterey, CA where I live.
The public was awesome; after waiting four hours through some hyperbole and some inspired speaking by the commissioners and an assembled task force on localism in media, the people finally spoke and everyone was elequent and effective. One mentioned that the speaking was almost reaching dialogue!
Media Alliance who has helped these issues come to lite and just recently won a judgement against the FCC, did a great job of facilitating teachins here in Monterey and two other nearby towns last weekend. They did a great job of helping people speak effectively, from their experience in the meer two minutes speakers were given.
For me, this helps me remember why I am in the d&d movement and my deep belief in the capacity of humans to participate.
I maybe should have posted this in "news" but I wanted to try and share some of my enthusiasm and hope right here, at our "front door."
Regards, Nancy
