Hi, Everyone! I have three things to tell you about this month:

1- Invitation to participate in our Thataway Forum
2- Update on the 2004 Conference ?– and opportunity to contribute to the scholarship fund
3- Headlines on the Community Happenings blog this month


Here are the details?…

1. Invitation to participate in our Thataway Forum

NCDD invites you to participate in our new forum, the ?“Thataway Forum.?” We hope this forum ?– which is already abuzz with nearly 100 compelling posts and exchanges written by dozens of your colleagues ?– becomes a vibrant place where practitioners, scholars, activists, and students of D&D can go to share learnings, ask questions about the challenges they face, connect with people who share their interests or live in their region, and much more. Please take a minute to visit the forum, which is at http://www.thataway.org/discussions/forum/ , and consider registering and writing about your work or providing or asking for advice from your peers.


2. Update on the 2004 National Conference on Dialogue & Deliberation

The second National Conference on Dialogue & Deliberation will take place at Regis University in Denver, Colorado, October 23rd through 25th, followed by a day of excellent post-conference training on the 26th. If you?’re interested in the conference, please look over the conference schedule, which is now posted at http://www.thataway.org/conference/2004/program/index.html

As you may know, NCDD?’s conferences provide leaders and future leaders in the dialogue & deliberation community a venue in which to share resources and strategies, solve problems together, build relationships and initiate collaborative projects. Practitioners, scholars, trainers, artists, activists and students will enjoy a one-of-a-kind gathering, with ample time for networking, skill-building, hearing from some of the key leaders in the field (including Jim Fishkin, Glenna Gerard, Harold Saunders and Bill Ury), and (of course!) engaging in dialogue and deliberation. We hope to see you in Denver!

If you?’re not able to attend this year?’s conference ?– or even if you are - please consider donating to the conference scholarship fund. Your contribution would help cover the expenses of those who may not otherwise be able to attend. People who contribute $50 or more to the scholarship fund will be acknowledged ed in the conference program and on the website.

Donations can be mailed to: NCDD, P.O. Box 402, Brattleboro, VT 05302. Checks should be written to NCDD.
