The National Coalition for Dialogue & Deliberation is a network of nearly 300 organizations and individuals who regularly engage millions of Americans in dialogue around today's critical issues. Often led by trained facilitators and oriented toward community problem-solving, these groups offer one of the few hopeful signs of growth in American democracy today.
NCDD's Marketing & Media Committee is working on ways to partner with the field of civic journalism. Both the civic journalism movement and the dialogue & deliberation movement are working to increase citizens' political awareness, social capital and civic engagement. The Committee plans to establish a ?Dialogue Bureau? which will connect journalists to the people on the ground who can share stories about the informed voice of citizens.
Journalists covering issues from education reform to Muslim-Christian relations will be able to obtain stories about how ordinary citizens are coming together to address these contentious issues through dialogue and deliberation.
