I heard about this site from a peace coalition I've been involved with, and I'm glad it's here so people can exchange ideas.
I'm sorry to hear that not too many people have been posting after the war, as this conflict is far from over. I'm still alarmed by the overall foreign policy, which seems to be for the U.S. to totally dominate the Middle East, invading whatever country it wishes and setting up a puppet government. I wonder if we could step back and instead of thinking of all that we are against in this kind of pollicy, we could focus on what kind of world we would like to see. I would welcome more cultural exchange, more dialogue with people in other countries. Increasing foreign aid that is truly helpful to what countries want for themselves would be a step in the right direction. I would also welcome some new ideas about trade, as globilization seems to be closely allied to this aggressive stance our government is taking.
While terrorism is certainly a threat to civilization in general, don't we need to think about what causes such desperate acts? No amount of surveillance and military might can completely protect against a few people determined to create havoc. We need to think of other approaches that make people feel part of a community, as it's only that human connection which creates civilization, not power from above.
