| About Me: |
Cynthia’s work has been driven by her interest in building community and fostering dialogue and collaboration, whether in the fields of homeland security, global development, or international migration. She is skilled in strategic planning, program and project management, grant management, and group facilitation in both the public and nonprofit sectors. Cynthia recently left her position as Acting Director of the City of Boston Mayor’s Office of Emergency Preparedness where she was in charge of homeland security and emergency management for the City of Boston. She has worked with the CEOs of the U.S.’s largest humanitarian relief and development organizations to move beyond competing for philanthropic contributions toward working together to enhance their impact both individually and collectively. Cynthia has worked in the field of community development, working with small businesses to revitalize Lower Manhattan post-9/11. Cynthia has also worked in the field of international migration, managing a number of initiatives that fostered inter-disciplinary collaboration and knowledge creation among scholars in the field. Cynthia holds a Masters degree in Public Policy from Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government and a Bachelors degree in Sociology and Public Economics from Vassar College. |
