My Personal Info
Full Name: Joan Mbagwu
NCDD Member Since: Oct. 9, 2007
About Me: Ms. Joan Mbagwu holds a Master of Art degree in Conflict Resolution from Antioch University, Yellow Springs, Ohio, USA in 1999. After graduation, I went back to Nigeria to work on promoting dialogue as a viable means of resolving conflict under the USAID/OTI program. OTI program is a USAID program for countries emerging from military and going into democracy. I worked as a Master Trainer on Conflict Resolution, and with three other gentlemen, wrote the Training Manual used for the program. At the end of the program, I worked for a Non Governmental Organization (NGO), African Strategic and Peace Research Group (AFSTRAG) which was funded by USAID and Ford Foundation and worked on promoting democracy in Nigeria and the continent. AFSTRAG worked with Institute for Democracy in South Africa (IDASA) on the 2003 elections and called for preparation for credible elections.

I am happy to be part of this great network. I will like to be notifies of all programs and will be available to what is possible.

I also facilitate [email protected]. It is a dialogue group that is deliberating on reducing electoral violence in Nigeria's elections especially in 2011 elections. I will invite all members of this dialogue to join the group. Right now we are 26, and we have great resource with diverse background, so discussions will be vibrant, passionate and logical. We hope to make impact for peaceful elections in Nigeria in the nearest future.
