I have been a mediator for 14 years specializing in large community disputes and collaborative community decision making processes. In my current position at Resolutions Northwest, a non-profit community mediation center, I coordinate the following programs: Restorative Justice, which includes victim/offender meetings and dialogues, Neighborhood Mediation, Community Residential Siting (which works on issues between neighborhoods and social services), Family Mediation which offers mediation for parents and teens and a range of other conflict resolution services. I am also a diversity trainer and am currently working on a project using Restorative Listening Circles to address issues such as racism.
The mission of the Office of Neighborhood Involvement (ONI) is to promote a culture of civic engagement by connecting and supporting all Portlanders working together and with government to build inclusive, safe and livable neighborhoods and communities. ONI was established in 1974, and the office serves as a vital communication link between residents, neighborhoods, and City of Portland bureaus. ONI works in partnership with many organizations including Neighborhood Associations, District Coalitions, Business District Associations other City agencies, and a wide range of community organizations and neighborhood activists to involve and inform the public in the civic life of the City. In addition, ONI provides a wide range of neighborhood livability direct services.
