MaryLou Smith is a fourth generation New Mexican who learned Spanish by practicing with local Hispanics who came to her parents farm to buy green chiles. She earned a masters degree in educational psychology from New Mexico State University where she coordinated after school programs for low-income children in rural communities. For 30 years, MaryLou has been a partner in an irrigation engineering company, until recently serving as its financial officer. Now, she has switched gears--putting her social consciousness into action by launching a new service through Aqua Engineering, providing consulting services pertinent to water conflict resolution. |
