About Me: |
Born in Denver, Colorado, a world traveler and seeker, and a natural at linking the right people, d&d first came to my attention only three years ago. Since that time I have gained an understanding of the tremendous potential of this discipline and would like to see it incorporated in the goals and activities of The Mercury Institute for International Sharing & Cooperation. Our work in the former Soviet Union, Asia, and Africa suggests the imperative of our using dialogue and deliberation in our work in other countries. |

Description: |
Rebecca Field started the Mercury Institute in 1993 in order to help people anywhere in the world to help themselves through open communication, relevant education and just governance. With The Saratov Business Women's Club in Russia, we developed business education for 35,000 poor women and girls in Russia. Now they live happier lives because they have had vocational training. We also started business incubators and gave microloans to women entrepreneours. Our aim is to help people to help themselves and each other thus building strong community relationships. In 2004 we became the Mercury Institute whose mission is far more broad and extensive than that of GlobaLearn, its predecessor. As a new global educational group, we inspire hope for a positive future in those we touch. We are proud of Olyssia in Russia who had always wanted a sausage factory. Because the Mercury Institute and the Saratov Business Women's Club gave her vocational and business training, she now owns and manages a sausage factory. Her sausages are well known and liked in the region. She is successful enough to own a car. Because she was willing to take vocational training her dreams have been realized. |
