About Me: |
Selen Ayirtman studied Political Science first at the Middle East Technical University (Turkey) for her B.A. and then at the University of Heidelberg (Germany) for her M.A. Her master theisis in the field of political theory focuses on the theoretical roots of deliberative democracy and constitutional state in Jürgen Habermas. Both during and after her studies in Germany, Selen worked as a researcher at the Mannheim Centre for European Social Research for various projects in the field of democracy research. Currently, she is a Ph.D. candidate at the Political Science Program of the Australian National University where she also works as a research associate in the project "Micropolitics of Deliberation" (http://deliberativedemocracy.anu.edu.au/research.php.). Her Ph.D. thesis under the supervison of Prof John S. Dryzek is about the merits and limits of deliberative democracy in culturally diverse societies. |
