About Me: Selen Ayirtman studied Political Science first at the Middle East Technical University (Turkey) for�her B.A. and then at the University of Heidelberg (Germany) for her M.A. Her master theisis�in the field of political theory focuses on the�theoretical�roots of deliberative democracy and constitutional state in�J�rgen Habermas. Both�during and after�her studies in Germany, Selen�worked as a researcher at the Mannheim Centre for European Social Research for various projects in the field of democracy research. Currently, she is a Ph.D. candidate at the Political Science Program of the Australian National University where she also�works as a research associate in the�project "Micropolitics of Deliberation" ( Her Ph.D. thesis�under the supervison of Prof John S. Dryzek is about the�merits and limits of deliberative democracy in culturally diverse societies.�
