Welcome, everyone!
I was trying to think of a topic or question that would get us going, but then I saw Jason Diceman's post about the Ontario Citizens' Assembly process, which he calls the "most democratic process in history."
While I'm hoping (especially since I'm an Ontario resident) that this process succeeds, I'm not sure I buy Jason's argument, which falls squarely into the domain of our group. (We should probably invite Jason to join us.)
So what do you think? It seems to me that the debate about the Citizens' Assembly plays up the tension in our field between 'critical mass' projects, which aim for large numbers of participants, and 'representative sample' projects, which try to create a microcosm of the larger community/province/country.
