BJ Diamond, is a founding member of Global Facilitator Service Corps. She was instrumental in the creation of GFSC, investigating the legal and financial requirements for establishing a charitable, nonprofit organization in the USA. In 2007, after serving for the 5 years as Board Secretary or Treasurer, BJ became the first Executive Director, helping develop ethical, efficient and consistent governing and operational procedures and policies. BJ’s many tasks include communications, fund-raising, workshop coordination, materials and project development. When she is not busy with GFSC work, BJ is a technical writer and editor.
GFSC is a rapidly-growing effort to link people, processes and resources worldwide, to unleash the collaborative potential of communities to create solutions to their challenges. Global Facilitators Service Corps (GFSC) is a not-for-profit organization linking professional volunteer facilitators with service opportunities worldwide. We are dedicated to helping community groups and institutions address societal needs, helping people learn how to resolve conflicts, solve problems and work collaboratively to strengthen and support their own communities. Mission: We link people, processes and resources worldwide to unleash the potential of communities to collaboratively create solutions to their challenges. Vision: We see facilitation as a fundamental strategy to build, rebuild and sustain self-reliant communities. Values: We believe people are capable of self-determination. By sharing our skills, caring and knowledge, we enable communities/groups to achieve positive results beyond our intervention. GFSC grew from the Community Outreach Task Force of the International Association of Facilitators (IAF). Many professional facilitators are active in service ventures, such as the Public Conversation Project in Massachusetts, Global Volunteers, Minnesota, the Hugh O'Brien Youth Foundation, California and IAF Disaster Intervention Facilitation training around the world. GFSC actively seeks new projects and builds on existing volunteer facilitation projects around the world, providing a link between needs and facilitators.
