About Me: |
My family is originally from Ireland. Since moving to the USA when I was three years old, I have lived in the Southeast, on the West Coast, in the Northeast, and most recently in the Washington DC/Virginia area. I have been working with the International Institute for Sustained Dialogue since I was an undergraduate at the University of Virginia, where I was a leader of UVA's Sustained Dialogue program, addressing racial and ethnic tension on campus. I have served as a Program Director for the Sustained Dialogue Campus Network from 2006. I enjoy reading, being outdoors, good food, and good company. |

Description: |
The International Institute for Sustained Dialogue (IISD) uses Sustained Dialogue (SD) to transform conflictual relationships. Focusing first on relationships rather than issues that cause conflict, SD works through a five-stage process bringing the same group together over time. The SD Campus Network works with student groups to improve campus racial climate. IISD currently conducts an Arab-American-European Dialogue, a dialogue with Iraqis across the political spectrum, an Armenia-Azerbaijan-Nagorno Karabakh dialogue, and a National Dialogue in Tajikistan. Partners include the Institute for Democracy in South Africa (IDASA) and the Center for Conflict Management and Transformation (CCMT) in Zimbabwe. IISD is affiliated with the Kettering Foundation. |
