My Personal Info
Full Name: Daniel Bassill
NCDD Member Since: Jan. 25, 2006
About Me: I have been involved as a leader of volunteer-based tutor/mentor programs since 1974. I've learned that volunteer involvement in a tutor/mentor program can enrich the life of the volunteer as much as that of the child. I operate a site based program, called Cabrini Connections and an intermediary and leadership group, called the Tutor/Mentor Connection. Through the T/MC my mission is to help comprehensive volunteer-based programs be viewed as a form of workforce development, civic engagement, education reform, etc. with a goal of creating more strategic involvement from leaders of these sectors, so that resources are more consistently available for programs operating in high poverty neighborhoods.
My Interest Areas: process improvement, innovation, collaboration, social networking, knowledge management, community change
My Work
Organization Name: Tutor/Mentor Connection
Title / Position: President
Description: The Tutor/Mentor Connection collects, organizes and shares information intended to help volunteer based tutoring, mentoring and career development programs grow in high poverty neighborhoods of Chicago and other cities. In addition, the T/MC organizes events that encourage a growing number of people to find and use its information.
