I was "converted" to dialogue as a graduate student at the University of Illinois, where I am finishing my Ph.D. in Clinical-Community Psychology. I have co-facilitated the liberal-conservative undergraduate course there and collaborated with a wonderful liberal-leaning classmate, Nathan Todd, on a project interviewing liberal and conservative citizens in our local community. My primary research interest is investigating competing ways of framing social issues and psychological problems, including their diverging implications for practice. As an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon), I am interested in contributing to stronger bridges of dialogue between conservative and liberal communities and exploring new, potential collaborations along the same divide.
My Interest Areas:
intergroup dialogue, liberal-conservative dialogue, interpolitical dialogue, public conversation project methods
get involved in post-doc research with a group that could use help documenting their outcomes. While my specialty is qualitative inquiry--interviewing, ethnographic observations--I think a combination of qualitative and quantitative measures would be most effective.
Hey Jacob! Noticed that you created an interesting Group today. The "groups" area of our network is probably the one that needs the most developing and publicizing. We're looking into hiring a developer to add some additional features, such as "group notifications" via email. I'd love your input on what might be useful for you or ideas how best to publicize groups. - Andy
