Mitch Chanin co-founded the Jewish Dialogue Group (www.jewishdialogue.org) in Philadelphia in 2001 and is now its Executive Director. He has facilitated more than 120 dialogue sessions about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the war in Iraq, the role of LGBT Jews, and other issues in synagogues, colleges, schools, and other venues. For the past four years, he has conducted training workshops for facilitators. He is co-author of the JDG/Public Conversations Project guidebook: Constructive Conversations about the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict and the JDG's booklet Dialogue in the Jewish Tradition.
The Jewish Dialogue Group is a non-partisan, grassroots organization that works to foster constructive dialogue within Jewish communities about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. We offer structured, facilitated dialogue programs in synagogues, schools, and other venues in order to help people to listen to and understand one other across political differences, talk through their feelings, examine moral & intellectual questions, and think through the choices they face. We also train people in facilitation, create publications to help people conduct dialogue programs of their own, and consult with people who are engaged in dialogue work.
