Courses Offered on Using Democratic Principles

The Study Circles Resource Center has partnered with the NeighborWorks Training Institute to offer two courses in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in May 2004: ?“Using Democratic Principles to Facilitate Community Dialogue and Support Citizen Action?” (May 6-7) and ?“Using Democratic Principles to Initiate and Build Neighborhood Revitalization Efforts?” (May 5). Through both courses, participants will learn how to recruit ?“hard-to-reach?” residents; identify and evaluate facilitators; connect citizens, stakeholders, and resources to support action efforts; and apply democratic principles to neighborhood organizations and the routine of community decision-making. Study Circle Senior Associates Matt Leighninger and Fran Frazier and Program Director Gloria Mengual designed and will teach both courses. www.studycircles.org/pages/issues/neighborhoodshome.html
