The Western Justice Foundation Center has announced openings for two positions: a Full-Time Administrative Assistant and a Director of Development. POSITION No. 1: Full-Time Administrative Assistant

The Western Justice Center Foundation is a Pasadena-based, non-profit organization working with children, communities, schools, governments and courts to assure peaceful conflict resolution and improve access to justice. WJCF seeks a qualified Full-Time Administrative Assistant to support the work of a rapidly growing non-profit organization.


Duties:

- Provide administrative assistance involving all office functions as required, including answering the phone, word processing, scheduling appointments and maintaining Executive Director?’s calendar, organizing meetings, drafting correspondence or memoranda, opening and routing mail, maintaining files and records, maintaining databases, duplicating, faxing, ordering supplies, and accomplishing other typical and essential office tasks.

- Coordinate preparations for periodic and regular meetings of the Board of Directors and for other board committee meetings as needed.

- Assist with arrangements and logistics for periodic events, such as large and small receptions, meal functions, events and selected programmatic meetings involving distinguished guests, donors and programmatic experts.

Requirements:

- Associate or Bachelor Degree required.

- Minimum two years of administrative experience and interest in working with nonprofit organizations.

- Exceptional computer skills, advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office-Word and Excel.

- Proficiency with email programs such as Outlook.

- Excellent writing skills to prepare routine correspondence independently with little supervision.

- Ability to multitask and prioritize workload with respect to deadlines.

- Demonstrated knowledge and skill in support role within professional organization.

- Able to work in an office environment in which efficiency, productivity, clear communication, collegiality, enthusiasm and high quality work products are the norms.

- Interpersonal skills appropriate for working with diverse personnel, partner groups and constituencies.


Compensation and Benefits

- Salary range: $30,000/yr. 40 hours per week.

- Benefits: Health/dental plan, 403(b) plan, vacation and sick leave, major holidays. Eligibility begins after completion of 90 day trial period.

POSITION NO. 2 Director of Development

The Director of Development is a new position which will work with the Board Development Committee, the Executive Director and other key staff members to create, coordinate, and implement a funding strategy for the organization.

Responsibilities

- Prioritize fundraising goals and develop and implement an annual strategy to meet those goals.

-Analyze and forecast fundraising potential for use in organizational financial planning.

- Research potential grants and create an annual grant calendar.

- Assist Executive Director with researching and writing grants.

- Identify, cultivate, solicit and steward major donors and prospects (both corporate and private) with the assistance of the Board Development Committee, the Executive Director and key staff.

- Oversee and implement fundraising special events and campaigns.

- Develop strategies for ongoing, individual private giving.

- Create Annual Report with assistance of Executive Director and Administrative Assistant.

Qualifications

- Minimum of five years experience in nonprofit development.

- Master?’s degree in relevant field preferred.

- Knowledge of the philanthropic sector in the United States, with particular focus on southern California.

- Experience in identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and achieving major gifts in the $10,000 to $100,000+ range.

- Experience in leading a capital campaign and developing a planned giving program.

- Knowledge of information technology, including donor software and fundraising databases.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills a must.

- Ability to work and thrive in a diverse environment.

- Strong time and task management skills.

- Experience with strategic planning and management.

- Commitment to and interest in peaceful conflict resolution.

Compensation and Benefits

- Salary range: $26-30 (DOE)/hr, 20 hours per week. (PARTIME)
