Taping of A Public Voice set for Next Week in DC

Here's an important announcement from today's Kettering Foundation "Friday Letter":

We?’ll tape the 15th in the series of A Public Voice programs, the public affairs public television broadcast based on outcomes of National Issues Forums, in Washington next week. Tape will roll at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday (April 28, 2004) in the ballroom of the National Press Club, two blocks from the White House in downtown Washington. The topic is Examining Health Care: What?’s the Public?’s Prescription? The West Virginia Center for Civic Life, in a project coordinated by Betty Knighton, prepared the issue book. Monthly "Fabulous Facilitators Breakfasts" in Berkeley

Lisa Heft hosts a "Fabulous Facilitators Breakfast" each month in Berkeley, California. The next one will be held this Monday, April 26. This is a casual breakfast group that brings facilitators in the region together for mutual support, learning, interaction and community. Over breakfast, facilitators who specialize in a variety of methods share challenges, questions, news and mutual appreciation in about a 2-hour time span without an agenda. They also share news about their workshops, ideas for collaboration, flyers to share and feedback on facilitation ?‘gigs?’ they have done or are about to do. Denver Groups Participate in National Chasing Freedom Campaign

Three Denver-based organizations are co-hosting a free public screening of the Court TV original movie Chasing Freedom followed by a panel discussion on April 24, 2004 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Inspired by true events, Chasing Freedom tells the story of Libby Brock (played by actress Juliette Lewis) and her client Meena. Libby is an ambitious corporate lawyer who is awakened to the world of bureaucracy and injustice when she reluctantly takes on the pro-bono case of a young Afghan woman seeking political asylum. The screening is part of the Chasing Freedom Campaign, a national awareness and activism effort organized by NCDD member Active Voice. Through screenings, panels and community events, the Chasing Freedom Campaign encourages individuals and groups to delve into, discuss and take action on issues related to political asylum and the plight of asylum seekers. ICMA to Hold Webcast on Collaborative Problem Solving

The International City/County Management Association (ICMA) will conduct a webcast called "Collaborative Problem Solving and Consensus Building: Effective Approaches for Watershed Protection and Restoration," on April 21, 2004. The webcast will feature Tanya Denckla, Senior Associate, Institute for Environmental Negotiation, University of Virginia, who will provide an introduction to consensus building techniques, and watershed organization and local government representatives who will provide case studies demonstrating improved watershed management through collaborative problem solving and consensus building. Intentional Living Institute will hold 2nd Annual Retreat
