About Me: Taylor Willingham is the co-founder and director of Texas Forums, an initiative of the LBJ Presidential Library and Museum. She is a research fellow for the Academy for Entrepreneurial Leadership at the University of Illinois where she also teaches Civic Entrepreneurship and Public Engagement for the Community Informatics Program at the Graduate Library and Information Sciences School. She has consulted with the American Library Association, the Texas State Library, Bill Moyers Public Affairs Television, KERA Public Radio and Television, the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, and the Iowa Department of Education. Willingham is a research associate for the Kettering Foundation, a former board member for the National Issues Forums Institute, co-founder of the Fostering Community Engagement Membership Initiative Group of American Library Association, a Board Member of the Salado Education Foundation, a Salado Public Library Trustee and a member of the Board of Directors for the National Coalition for Dialogue and Deliberation.

Other involvement: I am co-facilitating a pre-conference workshop the day before the 2008 NCDD conference begins in Austin. The workshop is entitled “Managing Difficult Conversations: An Introduction to Group Dialogue Processes.”

Taylor ran a National Issues Forum event for conference participants and locals on the final day of the 2004 NCDD conference in Denver, Colorado. She has also served on NCDD’s Steering Committee.
